Caribbean Cruise
Jon and Ashley have been long time fans of cruising, but wondered if it was a good choice with our two young kids. Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas ended up being a great decision for our first family cruise with endless activity choices for all ages.
Details:
This particular cruise sailed to four destinations: Nassau, Cozumel, Roatan, and Costa Maya. The middle two, as you will see in our video, were the highlights of our trip, and we were so pleased with the companies we went with. As for Nassau, the Atlantis Resort is very expensive if you choose to buy a day pass, so we opted to visit a public beach with banana boats and jet skis on Paradise Island instead. For tips and savings while visiting Atlantis, check out our blog post here. The ship itself had much more to do than cruises we have taken in the past. We would definitely recommend the water show, the interactions with the Dreamworks characters, and the sports options in particular. It did seem like there was an additional cost to more things than our past cruises, but this is still such a wonderful, reasonably priced option for families wanting an all-inclusive feel. We have more information on finding great cruise deals here.
Notes and Tips:
- Often on cruises, two adjoining rooms are cheaper than a suite which gives you the same extra space with the ability to shut off areas while small kids are sleeping. We also love the cheapest inside staterooms since our whole family sleeps wonderfully in the pitch black.
- For a smaller group and a lower price, go with a reputable tour company outside the cruise line like the ones listed below.
Gear:
- For around $50, this is definitely the best 4K Waterproof Camera you can get. We also love this accessory kit that goes along with it!
- As adults, we can make do with whatever snorkel set is provided for us. Our kids, however, are still getting the hang of it so a quality, yet inexpensive set like this Kids Snorkel Set makes a huge difference!
