Miami
Although our family has been to many beach destinations around this area, we were originally skeptical of whether Miami would be a suitable destination for families. We were pleasantly surprised to find the area around our condo to be low key, quiet, and very family friendly. Throughout the week, we enjoyed parasailing, surfing, touring the city by speedboat, and even trying chicken hearts at the local Brazilian steakhouse!
Details:
We noticed that towards the center of South Beach is where most of the restaurants and bars are and, therefore, had definitely more of a party atmosphere. We stayed near the southern tip of South Beach, right before you get to Fisher Island. This was the definitely the most family friendly area that we found. The southern tip also has a great pier, park, and playground where you can watch the cruise ships go in and out.
Notes and Tips:
- For more information on how and why we brought only our backpacks, check out our Facebook live here!
- All the beaches are public, but most resorts have large areas for their guests to relax and spread out away from the crowds.
- Since Fort Lauderdale is only 30 minutes away, include their airport in your flight search for tons of options for budget fares.
Gear:
- These packing cubes from Bagail here and here helped us save space and keep our backpacks organized.
- Our kids stayed safe with super compact, portable car seats from Whizrider. They exceed all federal stafety standards, weigh less than a pound, and are the size of a medium cup of coffee!
